Guy Kawasaki
To say that Guy Kawasaki needs no introduction would be a gross understatement. A world-renowned maestro of ingenuity and reinvention, Guy Kawasaki is the chief evangelist of Canva and the creator of the riveting ‘Remarkable People’ podcast. A Silicon Valley legend in his own right, he is also a brand ambassador for Mercedes-Benz and an executive fellow of the Haas School of Business (UC Berkeley), adjunct professor at the University of New South Wales and a Wikimedia Foundation trustee.

Silicon Valley venture capitalist Guy was one of the leading pioneers at Apple and was responsible for marketing the famous Macintosh computer in 1984. Urban mythology has it that along with Steve Jobs, Jony Ive and Steve Wozniak, Kawasaki is amongst the most prolific influencers in the history of Apple.

Guy Kawasaki is also a widely respected author of 15 books, several of which have made the acclaimed New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestsellers’ list, including ‘Wise Guy’, ‘The Art of the Start 2.0’ and ‘The Art of Social Media’. With a BA from Stanford University, an MBA from UCLA, and an honorary doctorate from Babson College, Guy Kawasaki’s résumé reads more like a vast manifesto than a career CV.

However, Guy Kawasaki’s stratospheric rise to fame began quite a long time ago… Born in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1954, he went on to attend Iolani School where he graduated in 1972. After Iolani, Guy matriculated to Stanford. He graduated in 1976 with a major in psychology which, according to his personal bio, was the easiest major he could find. And then, just like all other rags to riches narratives worth their salt, Guy Kawasaki found himself at the right time, in the right place with the right friends.

His rise at Apple started out in 1983, through what he jokingly refers to as ‘nepotism’. His Stanford roommate, Mike Boich hired him into the Macintosh Division to work for him. He was responsible for marketing the famous Macintosh computer in 1984, earning him the widely recognised appellation, ‘hi-tech Mac-evangelist’.

Now a much-touted Silicon Valley icon and widely respected authority in entrepreneurship, venture capital, marketing, enchantment, business evangelism, and more, has managed over the past decades to reinvent the Guy Kawasaki legend several times, all the while sharing his extraordinary journey and wide range of experiences that have shaped his incredible career through his books and unforgettable keynote speeches. His inspiring rise to global legendary status is a remarkable tale which offers the most powerful life lessons for all his followers and beyond.

Throughout his brilliant career, Guy Kawasaki’s main ethos has remained consistent – Several interviews as well as keynote speeches bear witness to the importance Guy attaches to sheer hard work, to the extent that this ultimately overshadows the significance of every other aspect of success, ‘What I lack in talent, I compensate with my willingness to grind it out. That’s the secret of my life,’ he has said.

He has also been quoted numerous times saying that the single most important lesson that he learned along his wondrous career path is that ultimately it doesn’t matter how you get a job. He insists that what matters is what you do with the job once you have it, regardless of how this came about, regardless of qualifications or the connections which got you the job in the first place. In an unforgettable interview with Forbes, Guy has been quoted as saying, “You either produce or you don’t. Getting the job is the easy part. Doing the work is the hard part.

This life lesson and other life-affirming kernels of wisdom have been the mainstays of Guy Kawasaki’s lifelong work, and which have served as remarkable inspiration for hundreds of individuals, companies, and entrepreneurs.

And now Guy’s amazing presence, knowledge and experience will be shared on iGaming NEXT’s July instalment of POWER Hour; a short, compact, educational and social digital gathering which brings together some of the iGaming industry’s brightest and most connected minds. This time around this unprecedented instalment of the POWER Hour, promises, more than ever to deliver some incredibly powerful life-changing lessons indeed.
