Pragmatic Play has recruited Gamesys executive Irina Cornides as its new chief operations officer (COO).

Cornides boasts more than a decade of iGaming experience after joining the sector as BGO Group’s head of bingo back in July 2011.

She most recently held the position of chief commercial officer (CCO) for Asia at Gamesys, now part of Bally’s, where she led the fastest growing division within the business.

In this role, she was responsible for the commercial performance of the London-listed operator’s Vera&John and Intercasino brands, as well as the Asian B2B business.

Cornides, who is based in Gibraltar, has held many senior leadership positions during her career. She spent more than six years with Jackpotjoy Group before it combined with Gamesys, originally as chief revenue officer before stints as CEO and CMO.

Pragmatic Play CEO Julian Jarvis said of the appointment: “We created this role as part of the next phase in our expansion journey and sought out Irina for her impressive growth track record.

“We are confident Irina’s accomplished experience will help successfully guide the company to new heights,” he added.

Pragmatic Play is assembling a heavy-hitting executive team having already hired ex-Microsoft marketing specialist Virginie Luce as CMO in January from iSoftBet.

Malta-based Pragmatic Play produces up to five new slot titles each month and is a multi-vertical provider of iGaming, live casino and bingo products.

Cornides said: “I am delighted to be joining such a talented team; I’ve long admired Pragmatic Play’s meteoric rise and saw first-hand how much players and operators alike love their games.

“I look forward to bringing my expertise to the team and working together to make Pragmatic Play into an even bigger success story,” she added.
