Stockholm-listed casino giant Evolution has launched its second New Jersey live casino studio, the company’s fifth studio serving the fast-developing US iGaming market.

Evolution opened its first US casino studio in New Jersey back in August 2018, while the new purpose-built studio went live in mid-November following approval from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement.

The US is becoming an increasingly important revenue generator for Evolution. In Q3 2022, the North American market contributed €50.1m to the company’s total revenue, up 57.1% when compared to the same period in 2021.

Besides New Jersey, Evolution operates live casino studios in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.

Jacob Claesson, Evolution’s recently appointed North America CEO, commented: “This is another exciting landmark for our operations in North America. Our aim has been simple when it comes to this market, to provide the best possible entertainment experience to the players, while giving our operators the games and tools needed to stay ahead.

Evolution North America CEO Jacob Claesson: “The studio was built thanks to the strong demand that we see in the state and will cater for our expansion in the years to come. It will give us the space needed to continue bringing new games to players in New Jersey.”

Claesson continued: “More tables and games will be launching in the coming weeks and months as we continue to hire additional people, continuing to build our incredible team in North America and offer exciting new opportunities to both operators and players.”

Operators in New Jersey will now have access to additional live casino games, including the brand-new Football Studio – the first live dealer variant of a top card game available in the US.

In September, Evolution launched the RNG-based First Person version of the game, which includes a ‘GO LIVE’ button that takes players through an in-game portal and into the live Football Studio game.

Live casino provider Evolution has promoted Jacob Claesson to the newly created role of CEO North America.

Claesson previously served as the head of Evolution’s North America operations and was responsible for all operational aspects of Evolution’s broadcasting studios in the US and Canada.

Evolution currently operates four live casino studios that service the North American market. They are located in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Michigan and Connecticut, the latter of which only opened its doors in July.

In Q2, Evolution reported revenue of €343.9m from North America, representing year-on-year growth of 34%.

He joined Evolution in February 2016 as a key account manager. Four months later, he was promoted to the role of head of integration and delivery, a position he held for two years and six months.

Very excited and humbled to share that I am taking on the role as CEO North America at @Evo_global. iGaming in North America is still only in its infancy and I am very excited about the opportunities ahead of us.

Between November 2017 and October 2021, he was also acting as head of operations Georgia while overseeing Evolution’s Tbilisi studio.

Claesson set up Evolution’s operations in Georgia from scratch, and under his tenure, the company became one of the largest employers in the country with close to 6,000 staff.

Prior to his career at Evolution, Claesson spent more than four years at payment provider Klarna across various roles.

He joined in 2011 as enterprise implementation manager and left the payment provider as manager technical sales coordination and international, responsible for the implementation and evaluation of all global processes and routines within Klarna’s technical sales organisation.

He also spent more than six years at Swedish insurance company Movestic, where he started as insurance administrator before becoming office manager.
