Sportradar has hired Jim Brown, former MD of enterprise risk management for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), as its new head of integrity services and harm prevention in North America.

The data supplier said Brown brings more than two decades of experience in risk management, strategy development, business process evaluation, design and sports wagering risk mitigation to the business.

For the past eight years, he has served in several risk management roles with the NCAA, eventually leading the organisation’s approach to sports wagering risk mitigation in his most recent position.

During that time, Brown collaborated on the development of an integrity programme featuring the monitoring of 12,500 games annually, as well as the wellbeing education of 550,000 student-athletes and enhancing the background check and review measures of 19,000 game officials.

Prior to joining the NCAA, Brown served as director of internal audit and quality at health insurance provider Anthem, in addition to previous roles at CNO Financial Group and Ernst & Young, following four years of service in the United States Marine Corps.

In his new role, Brown will be based in the US and will report into Andreas Krannich, Sportradar MD of integrity services.

Krannich commented: “Integrity is not a check-the-box exercise, but a complex strategic service that blends process, regulation and education and is driven by technology.

“Jim has a proven track record in bringing these elements to life with great success and notable impact and we’re thrilled to bring him aboard.”

Brown added that: “As new sports betting markets open up across the US, the need for robust and resilient integrity services has never been greater.

“Sportradar sets the standard in our industry and I’m excited to join the team to lead the development of existing and new offerings that will both protect the integrity of competitions as well as safeguard the well-being of athletes,” he concluded.
