FanDuel has appointed its chief risk and compliance officer Carolyn Renzin to the role of chief legal officer, in an expansion of her role that will see her take on several additional responsibilities.

Renzin’s new position as chief legal and compliance officer of FanDuel Group will significantly expand her duties, the operator said, as she will be tasked with overseeing legal, risk, regulatory engagement, compliance and responsible gambling for the business.

She takes over the CLO role from Christian Genetski, who was promoted to the role of president of FanDuel in July.

Renzin first joined FanDuel as VP of legal, regulatory and compliance in 2019, before being appointed as chief risk and compliance officer in 2021. 

Prior to joining the operator, she held several senior legal roles at JPMorgan Chase, over a period of more than six years.

Renzin holds long-standing experience in the legal sector, having joined New York-headquartered international law firm Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP as an associate in 2001, before spending more than eight years at Stillman & Friedman as an associate and then partner.

Renzin marks the latest in a slew of recent high-profile appointments at the Flutter Entertainment-owned operator. 

In April, the business brought on board Tricia Alcamo – an experienced HR professional boasting previous employers including Deloitte and American Express – as its new chief people officer.

In her new role at FanDuel, Alcamo was tasked with accelerating the firm’s people strategy, which was being redesigned at the time to reflect the brand’s growth trajectory.

In May, a new chief technology officer joined the business in the shape of Andrew Sheh, former senior VP of engineering for real estate technology firm Compass.

Another hire that month saw Asaf Noifeld – former managing director of casino at PokerStars, another of Flutter’s brands – take up the MD casino role at FanDuel.

In July, as the firm’s chief legal officer Christian Genetski was promoted to the role of president, former CMO Mike Raffensperger took on the newly created role of chief commercial officer.
